DEF, SHBIE

Objectives of the project

This is a collaborative project between Department of Educational Foundations, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah (DEF,SHBIE), Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Curriculum Development Department (CDD), Ministry of Education, Brunei. The main focus in this project is to design, develop and share the instructional resources between both parties. The objectives of the project are:

1. to design, develop, implement and evaluate the computer-based instructional resources to be used in teaching and learning.
2. to perform a research and development in order to determine the effectiveness of the LOs delivered online
3. to propose and design an effective learning environment according to the needs of  Brunei’s Education system
4. to conduct training on how to use the instructional material online and offline using appropriate instructional strategies.
5. to design and produce a content repositories that is relevant to local context
6. to design the evaluation criteria for prototype evaluation
   

The project is focusing on the design, development and implementation of computer based instructional materials. DEF, SHBIE will produce the prototype (alpha version) while CDD will play its role in evaluating, publishing and circulating it to schools at implementation stage. Tentative task are as shown in the diagram below:

In Phase 1, students in SHBIE who registered in most of the core and elective courses (mostly in the area of educational technology) will design and developed the computer-based instructional material. The prototype developed will be strictly following the individual course objectives. The team from DEF, SHBIE will then select the product based on the criteria then passed it to CDD for a final evaluation (phase 2). In the implementation stage the team from DEF, SHBIE will facilitate (if needed) CDD in evaluating and trying out the end product (Version 1.0) in the real setting.
